The artists invited patrolling 'Redcaps' to tip 5400 orange ping-pong balls into Granary Square. Over the day the balls were tipped out three times. The wind howled and the balls rolled through the fountains and across the square, making a delicate tinkling sound. For twelve hours – a Redcap working shift – the artists picked up the balls one by one with litter pickers. Passers-by gathered them in ones, and in bagfuls. Feet and vehicles burst them. At the end of the day 611 balls were recovered.
